Me, wife & marriage by Aki
I find it a little bit funny when people go out of their ways to make resolutions they seldom keep. I don’t do resolutions. What I do is ask God to strengthen me, make me a better person. Give me a good heart to continue to do good to my fellow human beings; that is about it. On project outside the industry, a lot is in the pipeline but honestly I will rather not talk about it for now. As things unfold, I will keep you in the loop. By God’s grace, I will do more charity for kids this year; it is very sad that we have lots of kids in the street. They are not much different from us. We were just luckier to have hard working parents and more opportunities, otherwise some of us would have ended up like them. They are victims through no fault of theirs. So by the grace of God, I will invest more time and money to bring succour to as much of them as I can.
Any plans to involve the Presidency in the project?
I have done series of proposals to the Presidency and other contacts like governors, and I believe they are giving them attention. It is one thing to send a proposal, yet it is another thing to have it approved. I believe with time it will be. For now, we are doing what we can with the little resources we can muster through our Aki and Pawpaw Child Care Foundation. There is a lot more to be done though.
Coping without a father for the past seven months
It has been difficult but life must go on. When I lost my father, I lost a friend and a mentor. As the first son and the eldest, all the responsibilities are now on me but like you know, God will never give us more than we can carry. It is tough but I am coping. I have to be strong for my mother and my siblings.
On the rumoured break up with his wife
Until you can put food on the table of bloggers and journalists (with all due respect) you are not yet a celebrity. Such news does not bother me; you know it is not true, you are very close to me and you have unrestricted access to my home. If my wife has moved out like they claim, you would have known. My marriage is one hundred and ten percent intact and it will remain so by the grace of God. The lunch we just had was prepared by my wife. She just stepped out to pick something from her shop. She has been working round the clock for the launch of her fashion label – NIKIZ – on February 16. Those who said we are no more together had better come to Oriental Hotels and see for themselves. I don’t know what those feeding such lies to the public hope to achieve. Anyway, I just see it as a desperate act of bloggers to put food on their table. As a celebrity, if there is no news, they will be forced to create news for you. That is how they draw visitors to their site; that is how they sell their papers. It is sad that some of them don’t know the damage they do with such stories. Sometime last year, a blogger posted that I and Osita Iheme had an accident on our way to Niger State. Our families, friends and fans were very disturbed by that wicked and baseless report, very sad indeed. Our people should be more thorough before they post anything on the internet. Just a phone call to me would have clarified the situation; instead they caused a major trauma to my well wishers.
Favourite food
I am not gluttonous. I eat moderately. I love vegetable soup a lot, another favourite soup of mine is this soup from the South South area, Fisherman soup. I love the soup so much. My wife has now perfected the act of cooking it. I usually enjoy it with pounded yam.
Exercise
I have a thread mill I use at home. There are other equipments for exercise I own too. I also go out to play football. I take it easy, of course; it is fun and exercise for me. No club signed me for 18 millions pounds so I don’t play to stress or injure myself rather to work out and have fun.
Any advice for the youth?
Be the best you can be by putting your mind to do what you are doing. very well. You don’t know who is watching.

Dump the ‘old wine’ and go for the ‘new’ - Mahama advised
Motivational Speaker Charles Sam says President John Mahama as a new generational leader must do away with the “old wine” in his government and rope in the “new wine”.
“…There are some practices of the old that must be stopped. Who falls in the trap; who falls under the whip, too bad. But the truth of the matter is that we show clear difference from the past and move on and especially for President Mahama because he is a new generation man and he has said so himself”, the Golden Future promotions CEO said on his programme ONE Nation on Radio XYZ.
According to him, “a new generation man should not be operating with old win but must be operating with new wine. That’s very important because you cannot put old wine in a new day, a new era, that won’t work”.
Mr Sam said all leaders in the country, irrespective of political party affiliation, must learn to start operating the same.
He condemned the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for allowing its internal party politics to degenerate to a game of insults on the airwaves, ahead of its national election.
“…You look at some of the things happening in some of the parties, some of the things they are saying on the airwaves and I can’t believe that young people are in this country. “…And I’m speaking about the NPP. God have mercy. I can’t understand some of the things that are being said on the airwaves. Why, is there no maturity to discuss things? What examples are you giving to the younger people?….You want power from us and look at the conduct”.
Las Vegas based Ghanaian physician indicted
LAS VEGAS -- A federal grand jury indicted a Las Vegas physician on
charges that he unlawfully prescribed large quantities of oxycodone and
other highly addictive prescription drugs, Nevada's U.S. Attorney
Daniel Bogden said Friday.
Dr. Victor Bruce, 48, was charged Wednesday with one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, and was arrested in Las Vegas Friday morning. He is scheduled to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Nancy Koppe this afternoon for an initial appearance, arraignment and plea.
"Our office will continue working aggressively with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners to attack the growing problem of prescription drug abuse," Bogden said. "Our federal and local law enforcement partners will continue to prioritize these unlawful prescription drug distribution cases and continue working to shut down dangerous unlawful "pill mill" operations."
According to the indictment, Bruce operates Swanlake Medical Center at 3330 South Hualapai Way and represents himself to be a pain management specialist. It is alleged that Bruce prescribed large quantities of oxycodone and other prescription drugs without medical necessity, knowing they were going to be illegally diverted. Bruce allegedly conspired with local drug dealers to distribute the medication to Las Vegas area customers who abused the drugs.
If convicted, Bruce faces up to 20 years in prison and $1 million in fines.
This case is being investigated by the Nevada High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Pharm-Net Task Force, which includes federal and local law enforcement agencies. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Crane Pomerantz and Cristina Silva.

Really? Jamaican Reggae star, Eric Donaldson says Ghana should legalise ganga live on TV!!!
Eric Donaldson is in Ghana for the first time for a concert dubbed ‘Big Man Dance’ to be held tonight, at the plush Mensivc Hotel in Accra for very important personalities (VIPs) as well as February 5 at the La beach, organized by Moscow 1 entertainment and powered by Ghana’s power station, Radio Gold.
Appearing on ETV’s Late Night Celebrity Show on Friday 31st Jan, 2014 to talk about the concert, the host, Dzifa Affanie, asked Eric how he gets inspired to write his songs. Eric replied “well I don’t write my songs. Sometimes I get the songs and the rhythms while smoking and drinking.”
The host followed up; do you still drink at your age? “I used to drink but stopped about 5 years ago. I used to drink Guinness a lot but stopped because I once went to urinate and nothing came out. I went to the doctor and I was told I have gall stones. Since then, I stopped drinking Guinness” Eric said.
Shocked, Dzifa asked Eric what he smokes; “I smoke what takes people to jail. What is that? Dzifa asked. “Yes I smoke what people smoke and go to jail. I smoke ganja. Yes I smoke ganja a lot” Eric Donaldson revealed.
Dzifa asked Eric if the smoking of ganja should be legalized and Eric said “smoking of ganja should be legalized.” Dzifa made the point that ganja is not good and so should not be legalized but Eric reiterated “ganja should be legalized.
“It is good for some and not good for others. Some people can ride bicycles but others can’t. Some drive bicycles and crush but others don’t. Those who crush don’t have what it takes to use the bicycles. I smoke ganja. It’s good! It brings out creativity from the head” Eric said.
Eric went further to reveal that at age 66, he’s given birth to 7 children with 5 different women. He described marriage “as a life sentence” hence, his decision of not marrying any of the women he had children with. He also said at age 66, he has many girlfriends and even currently, he is dating a 19 year old girl. Finally, Eric declared that he does not care what people say about him after his death.
Similarly, on 5th March 2013 Independence eve at the Ohene Djan Stadium, was a concert organized by Charterhouse for RLG to mark the Hope City Concert with American R&B singer Chris Brown as the headline artiste.
During his performance, Chris Brown stopped and asked if there were wee smokers in Ghana. “How many of y’all smoke weed?” he asked. He further advised the audience “if anybody is tripping on you smoking weed, f**k them.”Chris Brown went ahead and smoked (the weed) on stage.
While cheers erupted, the DJ played a voice recording, talking as if it was Chris’ conscience talking, asking him why he was smoking. Chris ignored the voices, pulled out his own blunt and lit up, puffing in front of the audience while the DJ played a medley of songs that promotes smoking or getting high through the loud speakers.
Oh Mother Ghana! Is this how loose our society is? Foreigners come to our soil and without any respect to our legal and societal norms or donts, spew rubbish and get away with it.
The host who should have done the sensible thing by educating Eric that ganja is an illicit drug per Ghana’s laws, kept silent on it and made Eric’s comments seem as though it’s no big deal.
Ghana’s Section 5 of narcotic drugs [Control Enforcement and Sanctions] Act, 1990 stipulates that “a person shall not, without lawful authority or excuse, smoke, sniff, consume, inject into the body or otherwise administer a narcotic drug on the body of that person.’
I blame Eric Donaldson but not much. Big chunk of my blame goes to our organizers who bring foreigners to Ghana but fail in orienting the latter on our legal and moral tenets.
To our event organizers, I say “school foreigners about Ghana before bringing them here, else someday, they get you into serious criminal or civil case by their words or conducts.” Until then…MOTWUM!!

Rihanna: “I Can’t Say I Am a Role Model…I Always Made that Point” on Criticism
Rihanna is living life on her own terms.
To promote her new Mac Cosmetics line, USA Today caught up with the music superstar. Ri Ri dished on her creative side, being philanthropic and the non stop criticism.
While addressing the fact that people think she’s music’s other resident wild child, here’s what she had to say;
“I think they think I’m drunk all the time. I think they think I am always partying, that my house is probably a party all the time with tons of people and tons of music and no clothes. I think that’s what they think. I’m actually very laid back. I love watching TV on a big old couch by myself. I love to swim in the ocean or the pool.”
With the success of her three sold-out
collections for Mac Cosmetics’ first celebrity “creative partner”,
scoring an animated role alongside Jennifer Lopez and Steve Martin, one can clearly call her a role model as he breaks from the usual box.
Rihanna was quick with her reply; “I
don’t like to use that word because people have their own opinion on
what that means to them. I can’t really say I’m a role model. I’m not
perfect. I’m not trying to sell that. I want people to have fun but be
responsible, protect themselves and be in control of your life. You can
never judge people. I always made that a point. You never know what
someone is going through.”.
Ri Ri concludes that she’s only living in the moment. “It’s
in the moment. Even sometimes I go back to my Instagram and I’m like,
‘Did I really post this?’ I never know. One day I would never post this
type of picture. A week later, I like this post,” she says. “It’s when
I’m bored. It’s in the moment.”

Parents of deceased hip-life artiste, Ronnie Coaches are reported to have clashed over the mortal remains of the late Buk Bak group member.
Ronnie, 36, died on November 21, 2013 at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after suffering a heart attack.
The mortal remains of the musician, also known in real life as Ronnie Nii Quarshikumah Quainoo, are expected to be laid to rest on Saturday, February 1, 2014 but from indications, all is not going well.
According to eyewitnesses, there was some confusion at the Bubuashie residences of both Ronnie's mother, Lilly, and father, Decarlo Coaches Quainoo Friday, as soon as the mortal remains of the late musician were conveyed from Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital morgue.
The source said, as soon as the body arrived in the vicinity where his parents live - their houses are separated by a street - both of them insisted the remains be brought to their homes.
Reports say after several minutes of a near tussle between the two factions as to who has the right to the body, an unnamed relative managed move the body to safety.
It still unclear the whereabouts of the remains of the musician.
The family is expected to hold a Wake-keeping at the National Theatre on Friday, January 31 and the body is expected to be at the venue to be laid in state.
The remains of the late musician will be interred at the Osu Cemetery on February 1, to be followed by a memorial service at the Success Chapel, Bubuashie in Accra on Sunday, February 2. Credit.Ernest Dela
