"I don't give a s--t," she said, when asked about the bad press surrounding her tour, including accusations that she is exploiting her minority backup dancers. "I'm not Disney, where they have, like, an Asian girl, a black girl, and a white girl, to be politically correct, and, like, everyone has bright colored T-shirts.  You know, it's like, I'm not making any kind of statement. Anyone that hates on you is below you, because they're just jealous of what you have."

"Is it not the money I worked hard for"?-Chika Ike on why she flaunts her shopping trips

If you recall, Chika Ike came under fire for posting photos of her day to day shopping spree in Abu Dhabi..Speaking to the Sun,she said....
Usually, every year, I take a vacation, because I feel have worked so hard all through , I deserve a break. As they say all work and not play makes “Chika a dull girl”. I just had to take a time out and whenever I do, I make sure I rest very well. I don’t know why it has been all over the whole nation, but I had fun..
Whose money? Is it not the money I worked hard for? Did anybody give me? I have worked hard and I deserved every bit of the luxury I enjoyed over there and I can proudly say that. I will do it over and over again because I deserve it.

I guess she is dispelling rumours her trip was sponsored by a big wig.. she is an independent woman...

Three cocaine transporters to appear in court today

An Accra High Court presided over by Justice C.J Hoenyenugah will on Monday hear a case between the state and three Guyanese accused of transporting 414 slabs of cocaine estimated at $60million.

The three, Perceval Curt, Samuel Mornty and Saint Praimchad are among a group of five who were arrested in November 3013 aboard a Guyanese Ship christened ‘ATIYAH George Town’.

The vessel was believed to be travelling from Guyana, when it was intercepted on Ghana’s territorial waters in the Western Region.

Two of their colleagues, a Ghanaian, Seth Grant including the Captain of the Ship, Mila Ronald O’Neil were however sentenced in January, 2014 to 15 and 20 years in prison respectively after the court found them guilty.

National Security arrests eight armed land guards

The National Security Council has arrested eight persons believed to be from Niger in a police-military operation at the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) Acquisition Area who have buried over 800 cannon balls in some dugouts.

The suspects are currently in the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) which is investigating to establish the source of supply, disposal methods and what use their customers have for the cannon balls.

A source from the Council told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the National Security was undertaking a police-military operation to smoke out hardened criminals, armed robbers and armed land guards who had become notorious and a nuisance to genuine developers and people who wanted to go about their daily activities in peace.

“One main objective of the National Security is to ensure that peace and tranquility prevails in the land administration and acquisition in this country,” the source said.

It added that the Council had the responsibility to ensure that land and property owners lived in safety and were protected at all times without intimidation, fear and harassment from criminal elements and armed land guards.

It said this phenomenon has engulfed land acquisition and ownership in the country especially in Accra and other major urban centres.

According to the source, recent events of criminality and encroachment on government lands had given cause for concern for the National Security apparatus, since such phenomenon tended to undermine the national security interests and, by extension, a threat to peace, stability and security.

At the centre of land acquisition, administration, ownership and related developments are state institutions like the TDC, Land Valuation Board, Land Commission, Survey Department and other related agencies including the Land Title Registry.

It said one such critical entity which had come under public criticism recently was the TDC for the demolition of illegal structures in Communities 23 and 24 of the Tema Acquisition Area.

“In spite of TDC’s attempt to operate within the law establishing it, the phenomenon of what National Security would describe as Armed Landguardism has taken root in most of TDC’s land acquired areas,” the source said.

It commended the TDC for putting in place a Task Force which patrolled the acquired area in order to address the indiscipline and impunity with which encroachers invaded undeveloped areas.

National Security arrests eight armed land guardsHowever, the Task Force has come under severe harassment, intimidation, fear and physical attacks from armed land guards who subject them to severe beatings and deadly attacks, wielding AK 47s and machetes among other things.

In addition, the surveyors of the Corporation find it difficult to carry out survey of the areas as a result of the activities of land-guards and other encroachers.

According to the source, during a routine patrol of the area, the Task Force stopped to caution an illegal developer, only to find about 60 armed land guards surrounding them.

In the ensuing confrontation and to escape the wrath of the armed men, a member of the task force had his wrist severely cut by a member of the armed gang while a second person was beaten to pulp.

The source said the National Security Council was aware of encroachment in the Free Zone Board’s land area and it was as a result of this that it was sending a stern warning to armed land guards and other hardened criminals to desist from their activities or face the wrath of the security forces.

“The National Security will not compromise on this threat to the nation,” the source said.

It advised nationals from the ECOWAS sub-region and other foreigners to respect Ghana’s laws and avoid getting themselves into criminal activities.

Escape from heartache — Raquel tells her story

• Raquel tells her storyWhen Raquel came back to Ghana in 2006 after living in the UK for many years, her immediate reason was to move away from her past love life and from an environment that brought back only memories of pain.
“It was really devastating. I couldn’t eat, sleep and just wanted to be alone but that was a learning period for me. That experience taught me to be bold and brace myself for the worst in life”.
Seven years down the line, Raquel who took to singing on her return  to Ghana, looks back and says that she has no regrets for abandoning the many great opportunities out there in London to start life afresh back home.
“I came back to Ghana to pull myself together after a heartbreak that I went through which nearly landed me in a psychiatric hospital. Coming home  was the best decision that I took”, she told Showbiz last Monday.
”I was very young then so it really got into me but God had His own plans for me. Perhaps, it was a blessing in disguise for me because I found my groove and found a new way of loving and being loved through music”.
The Sweetio singer said that she had always found satisfaction when she sings love songs because it gives her a feeling of belongingness which she had always wished for.
“When you listen to my songs, it always talks about love and how a sweet feeling it could be when you get the right person. My sweet-turned- sour relationship back in London has always been the shadow that haunts me so I take solace in writing love songs. Anytime I sit down to compose a song, the only theme that comes to mind is love and it is not surprising that all my songs are love related” she said.
“Today, I have found people who have shown me great love and words cannot explain the joy that I feel when I mount the stage and see people respond cheerfully to my love songs. It only tells me that people still believe in love so I shouldn’t give up on it either.
She told Showbiz that it is with the commitment to be a crusader of love and to champion it that she put together the annual Raquel’s Cupid Party on Valentine’s Day to celebrate the special occasion with her cherished fans.
“Valentine is a special season of love where we express our love to those who matter most to us and so it must be celebrated in a special way. I will tell my bitter love stories to my fans and hope my experience will inspire somebody there. The night will just be about love and for the singles and searching, they can be at+233 and may found their loved ones” Raquel said.

Work for decisive victory in 2016

• Mr Henry Ekow Manly-SpainA leading member of the National Democratic Congress, Mr Henry Ekow Manly-Spain, has encouraged members and supporters of the party to work towards clinching decisive electoral victory in 2016.
To achieve this goal, the thoroughbred NDC member asked the party to strive to implement effective working strategies to attain the goals of the Better Ghana agenda, as well as meet the 2012 campaign promises.
Campaign to support NDC
In a chat with the Daily Graphic, Mr Manly-Spain pointed out that he had personally embarked on a campaign to intensify his support for the NDC’s cause and to attain the better Ghana agenda for all.
In line with this, he said he was visiting some constituencies within the Greater Accra Region to share party experiences, find out challenges confronting the constituency offices and offer his widow’s mite by way of logistical support.
He argued that in a mass party such as the NDC, there were bound to be logistical challenges which required all hands on deck to solve.
“No one individual can solve the problems but with a collective action and unity of purpose, we will overcome,” he told the Daily Graphic.
Key objective
According to Mr Manly-Spain, it is his key objective to contribute his quota to ensure that the Greater Accra Regional  constituency offices of the NDC were very functional to play their expected roles as the 2016 elections approached.
“I am currently looking at the Gt. Accra Region and what can be done to support them,” he told the Daily Graphic, and mentioned that “ in the past years,  I have been on the ground working to support the party’s foot soldiers and I intend to continue to make the NDC a party of choice.”
He said his visit to some of the constituencies had revealed many teething problems, and mentioned the burden of the payment of electricity bills, hiring of canopies and chairs for political education, and welfare meetings,  as well as other logistical needs as some of the critical ones.
Mr Manly-Spain said so far,  he had visited 12 out of 34 NDC constituencies in the region and was working on an effective strategy to help.
He said lack of job opportunity for the party’s foot soldiers and the youth also came up during his visit.
According to Mr Manly-Spain, some of the foot soldiers who contributed to the 2012 electoral victory of the NDC feel ignored, and it is time “we arrested this problem by eliminating their concerns.”
Call centre
He disclosed that he would open a novelty call centre to enhance his interaction with the NDC party at the grass roots.
He stressed that the center was aimed at ensuring party supporters were always in touch with the party and themselves, constantly drawing attention to their needs and suggesting pragmatic strategies to win the 2016 elections hands down.
Message of hope
On whether or not the NDC’s Better Ghana agenda was on course, Mr Manly-Spain declared; “Sure, the NDC agenda is on course and we will work to ensure that we succeed in 2016.”
“I want to assure our party foot soldiers that I am coming on board and they must keep faith with the party,” he stated.
Mr Manly-Spain, who is a founder member of the NDC in the US,  had contributed to the welfare of the party since 1992. In 2004, he contested the Ablekuma South Constituency seat of the NDC and supported the campaigns of NDC parliamentary candidates.

‘Kufuor gallon’ borehole water costs GH¢10: It’s said to heal all sicknesses

• This elderly woman is lucky to have fetched some gallons of water into a waiting taxi. Hundreds of people from all walks of life are trooping to Adomfe, a small town in the Asante Akyem South District in the Ashanti Region, to fetch water from a borehole which is believed to heal all manner of illnesses.
They are not perturbed by any cost – be it money, distance or long queues for hours and days – to fetch the water for their personal use and for their relatives and friends, far and near.
One gallon (popularly called Kufuor gallon) of the borehole water is being sold for GH¢10 to visitors and GH¢1 to community members.
And when the Daily Graphic visited Adomfe last Friday, a day reserved for visitors to fetch the water, there were long queues of people carrying gallons.
The atmosphere was one of mixed feeling, with people who were fortunate to fetch the water wearing smiles on their faces, while anxiety was written on the faces of those yet to have their turn.
News about the healing potency of the Adomfe borehole water has even gone beyond the shores of Ghana, as some Ghanaians living abroad call their relations back home to go fetch the water for their ailing relatives.
Some residents of Adomfe are said to be doing brisk business, fetching and selling the borehole water to visitors.
The Daily Graphic learnt that some pastors had visited the borehole site, while other prominent people had also sent emissaries to fetch the water for them.
Testimony
The only proof of the healing power of the borehole water lies in the testimonies of people who have used it.
“This water is very good. I have used some already and it’s good; that is why I’ve come for more,” an elderly woman told the Daily Graphic, as she carried a gallon of the borehole water on her head with broad smiles on her face.
Madam Yaa Fosu Hemaa was waiting patiently for her turn to fetch the water after joining the queue for more than five hours before the visit of the Daily Graphic.
“I have an ear problem and after putting some of the water into my ear, I felt an improvement in my condition. So I’ve come to fetch more of the water,” she said.
In another instance, a man was said to have testified that his wife could not take seed again nine years after giving birth to their only child, but after drinking the borehole water, she had become pregnant.
The power of these testimonies had lured Madam Akua Comfort from Ohene Nkwanta at Konongo-Odumase to Adomfe with a ‘Kufuor gallon’ to fetch the water for her ailing mother who is stricken with waist pain and swollen legs.
“I have a heart problem and so I’ll also drink some of the water,” she added.
However, one woman the Daily Graphic spoke to in town was not enthused about the borehole water because after drinking it, she said “I did not see anything.”
Background
The borehole was sunk in September 2008, but, according to Mr Wilberforce Obeng Anane, popularly called WO Anane, the people abandoned it for five years.
That was because they did not find the water suitable for cooking and, when they used it for washing and bathing, the soap did not lather.
He said he later learnt that the borehole water was hard water, hence the inability of soap to lather when the water was used for bathing and washing.
Mr Anane, who is the Financial Secretary of the Water and Sanitation Committee at Adomfe, said having read about hard water from the science notes of his nephew in junior high school and also done further research into it, he discovered the health benefits of the water and started proclaiming same to the people.
He said following the promotion of the water, some people tried it and immediately many of them started giving testimonies of its healing potency against diabetes, heart diseases, abnormal menstrual cycle and other sicknesses.
What is hard water?
According to scientists, water is considered to be hard when it has relatively high levels of calcium and magnesium and other metals.
Water is referred to as hard because it requires more soap for a good lather, making it harder to clean with than soft water, which, unlike hard water, contains few of calcium and magnesium and other metal cations.
Scientists say hard water is not harmful to human health. Rather, it has many health benefits when compared to soft water because calcium and magnesium are considered essential nutrients required in diet to maintain healthy body functions.
“Calcium is a critical component of bone, and has many positive effects on the body, as well as the prevention of serious life-threatening and painful ailments like osteoporosis, kidney stones, hypertension, stroke, obesity  and coronary artery disease,” according to information from a website on chemistry: http://chemwiki.ucdavis.edu.
“Magnesium also has positive health effects because inadequate amounts of magnesium in the body increase the risks for health problems, such as hypertension, cardiac arrhythmia, coronary heart disease, and diabetes mellitus.
“Studies done on the health effects of hard and soft water have shown that people who drink greater amounts of soft water have much higher incidences of heart disease, as well as higher blood pressure and cholesterol levels and faster heart rates, than those who drink mostly hard water,” it added.
Scramble for Adomfe hard water
The source of hard water at Adomfe is believed to be rocks beneath the ground on which the borehole was sunk.
In view of the high patronage, the managers of the boreholes have scheduled days on which visitors and community members are allowed to fetch the water.
The borehole is opened to visitors on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, while the community members are given access on the remaining days – Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Upon arrival, one has to register and wait for his or her turn to be served according to the numbering on the registration list in an orderly arrangement supervised by Mr Anane.
However, Mr Anane gives room for what he termed as “consideration” to people with special needs, such as the aged and the sick, who are served earlier than their position on the registration list.
Some of the community members complained that whereas they were restricted to the number of gallons with which they could fetch the water, visitors were allowed to fetch as many as they could.
Business
Meanwhile, some community members are cashing in on the situation by fetching the water at a low cost of GH¢1 and selling it to visitors at GH¢10.
But there are concerns about dubious business practices, as some people allegedly mix the borehole water with tap water for sale to unsuspecting visitors.
The Gyaasehene of Adomfe, Nana Boakye Yiadom, advised visitors to endeavour to fetch the water from the borehole in order not to fall prey to such fraudsters.
He appealed to the government to support the community with a big water tank in order to ensure that people, especially those who travelled long distances to the place, could fetch the water in good time.
Commercial drivers plying routes from Adomfe to Konongo and other surrounding towns are also making brisk business, given the increased human traffic to and from Adomfe.

Reason: ‘Genevieve Nnaji & Omotola Jalade Are Currently Jobless’ – Obi Emelonye

This is really a shocking news,It will be recalled that the two Nollywood actress Genevieve and Omotola have not been frequent in movies and the last one Genevieve did, Dr. Bello was a flop at the box office. She was also sparingly used in Half of a Yellow Sun. Omotola has not done any major film in recent times. Her last major movie was Last Flight to Abuja about two years ago.

According to Obi Emelonye, producer and director of Mirror Boy and Last Flight to Abuja, this development is not due to the fault of the actresses rather, they have become victims of their own success.

In an exclusive chat with an online media, Emelonye said:

“Genevieve and Omotola are the two biggest actresses we have in Nollywood, they cannot afford to charge less than their status and that is where the problem comes in. Their charges are probably above what the industry can afford. Their charges are like half of the entire production budget so which producer can afford that?”

"What they can do now as it is with other big stars all over the world, is that they should begin to fund their own productions and act in them, they can act whatever role will enhance their brand, they need to start a production company now, and push themselves because they need to remain relevant and must not be seen as jobless. If corporate bodies perceive them as jobless they won’t want to do business with them, they might even price them cheap.”

The school St. Nicholas College, a secondary school was established in 2008 by the ace actor. And according to the gist then, Emeka was supposed to have invested about N200 million in the making the school happen at the property that they have now been sent packing from.

All through the years of the school existence Emeka, his wife and the school had been engaged in one unconfirmed allegation after the other. Some of the allegations are as follows:

None payment of salaries as at when due to the staff & teachers; he apparently used to owe many of those working for him for upwards of 6 months at a time.

He was also alleged to prefer employing unqualified & non professional teachers in a school, where parents were paying exorbitant school fees thinking they were getting the best of education and more. So bad was the situation at the school at a point, that many parts of building were said to have been in a state of disrepair.

At a point it was alleged that only 13 students remained in the school, as others had been withdrawn by their parents.

Last week, the court bailiffs acting under instructions took possession of the school. Mercy Johnson looks so cheap and Mgbekerish-Emmy Collins

This is what fashion designer and critic Emmy Collins  wrote about Mercy Johnson's look above..,,Read below

Okay, so I got this from a reader this morning, “ehen small aproko …Emmy, I saw pics of Mercy Johnson looking tacky on other blogs and they tagged her sexy. I confuse o”  My understanding of the mood of the author of this comment was that of someone gob-smacked by either a blatant lie or blatant ignorance.

Mercy Johnson looks so cheap here that if cheap were to be animated today, it would most definitely not want to be associated with Mercy Jonnson. Yes, she seemed so hideously dressed in that hideous dress (haha, playing with words, na me biko). I don`t even know where to start or end, the N3k tejusho dress, akpola shoes, the “mgbekerish” pose, the walls behind her(background), foot mat, et al, yet some blogger deemed it appropriate to tag this picture right here “sexy”. Kai, sexy don suffer ni. Abasi mbo, Chineke no n’eluigwe, Oluwa! What did we do to deserve this?

Okay, I know what we did. We became too hypocritical. I can imagine cheap (I mean animated version) blurting out words like – “abeg, abeg, I know say I cheap, but no be like that nah, kai! No put me near that cheap looking woman, biko” – when compared to Mercy Johnson in this ensembles of hers. On a very positive note, we should all be thankful to the almighty God/Allah that she didn`t venture putting on those sunnies in her hands, because if she did, kai, egbe for gas, lol.

More often than not, I wonder if these sort of classless half-baked celebrities that we are bedevilled with aren`t God`s idea of punishment for all the iniquities we commit against him daily. We have “afọ anu” celebrities that are ineffective in all spheres of life, be it politics, fashion, etc. Tell me a Naija celebrity that has influenced any fashion trend? Perhaps just about 2% of them have pet projects, except when they surround themselves with cameramen while visiting motherless babies homes. In another clime, these are supposedly the innovative bunch, but it’s sad that the last word a well meaning and well-informed individual would use to describe any Nigerian actress or actor today is “innovative”. How did we get here? It has become a nonsensical game of ‘please find out where Genevieve or Omotola has visited, me too I wan go there nah and make sure all the blogs will post the pictures’.”

Well, you guys know what I think about this image, what do you think?

Okay, Mercy, here is the deal. If you gonna be showing your mansion in Ajah, shouldn`t you be spending some dosh on your style as well?

PS: I concluded a long time ago that some bloggers must be on some cheap crack if they are gonna be seeing white and calling it black. I will only do my best to call them out when I can afford the time.

It has recently come to our notice that several apparent music promoters are fraudulently promoting gigs billing our client, Yaa Pono, as appearing without prior consent and agreement from Management.

An example of a fraudulent billing is attached below. Please note that Yaa Pono WILL NOT be appearing at the “Skelewu Fun Fair Reloaded” event organised by PAY1 Entertainment on 25th January, 09.00 at Osino Presby S.H.S as Management was not consulted prior to advertising.

We advise any persons who have parted with money for this event to contact Pay1 Entertainment for a full refund and also their local Police station to report the matter.

We have also been made aware of the illegal leaking of some of Yaa Pono’s music online.

Another serious matter, we advise those who have not secured the express permission of Management to distribute Yaa Pono’s music to cease doing so. Our team takes great pride in working with Pono to further the development of his talent and brand by adhering to his annual work plan, managing his back catalogue, future career plans and selecting appropriate appearances for him.

Random actions taken by unauthorized parties do nothing to help or further Yaa Pono’s course and so we ask that any required Yaa Pono activity is sought via the correct and proper steps.

Fraudulent activity by unscrupulous individuals only serves to extract money from genuine fans keen to see and hear from Yaa Pono – this is fundamentally wrong.

Any appearances or music releases that have been confirmed and authorized by YAVA Global for our client will be publicized via Yaa Pono’s various social media accounts: Twitter (@ponobiom), Facebook personal (Yaa Pono), Facebook Fan Page (Pono Biom), Instagram (Pono Biom) and the relevant mass media – TV, radio, online and print. Management contact details are clearly stated on these accounts in order to prevent similar instances.

Excuses will not be tolerated. Whilst we continue to welcome all genuine enquiries regarding our Client via the correct channels, please note that all fraudulent behaviour will be reported to the Police (Ghana and Internationally) for investigation, enforcement and prosecution.

As always, Yaa Pono, Uptown Energy and YAVA Global acknowledge and appreciate the huge amount of love, dedication and continued support shown to Pono by his fans Worldwide.

Only Women and Gays Brag About Their Looks- Kwaw Kese Replies Kontihene

Kwaw Kese

It appears that whatever caused the rift between Hiplife artistes Kwaw Kese and Kontihene still persists as Kontihene’s recent assertion on Okay FM that he was better than Kwaw Kesse in terms of looks, has compelled Kwaw to respond, describing Kontihene as a woman.

The man 'insane' who was out of the country when Kontihene made some unpalatable comments about him, finally responded to Kontihene on Peace FM's Entertainment Review on Saturday February 1, 2014.

"...why would a man say he is more handsome than his fellow man?" Kwaw quizzes.

To him, this is a trait of women and that of gays. Funny enough, he accepted the fact that he is ugly. He even went ahead to declare that a man was created to be fearful and that is why he looks as such. He believes the name Kontihene has been dead in the Ghanaian music industry for the past decade, and this explains why Kontihene wants to ride on his (Kwaw) popularity to resurrect his career by gaining some attention.

"To the best of my knowledge, I know Kontihene got married some few weeks ago where his wedding pictures even went viral on the internet...but as for me, C.E.O. of Madtime Entertainment, i don't believe in that story," he added.

Kontihene and his wife
“How can someone release an album and get married at the same time?” That was how Kwaw put it. According to him, Kontihene is desperate for attention, and he would do all sort of things to gain some. Kwaw believes Kontihene’s wedding was a publicity stunt and not a real wedding.

As the man who has been encircled with lots of controversies, he made it known on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review that his recent name is “Obonsam” (Satan).

“Satan is the one person we accuse everyday when there is a problem. In the Ghanaian music industry, fingers are being pointed at me anytime a controversy or crisis arises. If that is the case, then I am the Satan of our music industry.” Those were the translated words of the man insane.

So if you happen to come across the mad man in town, you can choose to forgo “Abodam” and call him “Obonsam.

Wande Coal Are At Loggerheads

Wande Coal and rap sensation Olamide are currently not on speaking terms. The whole kasala is believed to have started back in late 2012 when Olamide released his YBNL album. On the track titled ‘Picture’, Olamide rapped about not letting his guard down when it comes to interacting with obsessed female fans. ‘Oloso (prostitutes) thinking of how to ruin me, but I know what I’m doing/they want to Wande Coal me, they want to Davido me,’ he rapped. Both Wande Coal and Davido have been involved in controversies over nude/half nude photos purportedly leaked by women. Wande Coal, we are told, was not impressed by Olamide’s reference to the incident.
Months later, when Ice Prince was recording songs for his Fire of Zamani album, he called on Wande Coal, Yung L and Olamide to feature on a track called ‘Gimme dat’. Wande Coal had wrapped up his verse when he found out Olamide would also be featured on the song. Sources say Wande wasn’t pleased with that and asked that he should not be featured on the same track with Olamide. Ice Prince, we are told, was forced to take Wande Coal’s verse off the song and replace it with a verse from Burna Boy. The song, produced by Chopstix, was released for digital download on April 24, 2013. Interestingly, a previous version of the song, which featured Wande Coal’s verse, leaked on the internet four months later, August 23, 2013.
Both parties Are yet to respond as at the time this report was filed…
Isit worth it?
