Rihanna: “I Can’t Say I Am a Role Model…I Always Made that Point” on Criticism
Rihanna is living life on her own terms.
To promote her new Mac Cosmetics line, USA Today caught up with the music superstar. Ri Ri dished on her creative side, being philanthropic and the non stop criticism.
While addressing the fact that people think she’s music’s other resident wild child, here’s what she had to say;
“I think they think I’m drunk all the time. I think they think I am always partying, that my house is probably a party all the time with tons of people and tons of music and no clothes. I think that’s what they think. I’m actually very laid back. I love watching TV on a big old couch by myself. I love to swim in the ocean or the pool.”
With the success of her three sold-out
collections for Mac Cosmetics’ first celebrity “creative partner”,
scoring an animated role alongside Jennifer Lopez and Steve Martin, one can clearly call her a role model as he breaks from the usual box.
Rihanna was quick with her reply; “I
don’t like to use that word because people have their own opinion on
what that means to them. I can’t really say I’m a role model. I’m not
perfect. I’m not trying to sell that. I want people to have fun but be
responsible, protect themselves and be in control of your life. You can
never judge people. I always made that a point. You never know what
someone is going through.”.
Ri Ri concludes that she’s only living in the moment. “It’s
in the moment. Even sometimes I go back to my Instagram and I’m like,
‘Did I really post this?’ I never know. One day I would never post this
type of picture. A week later, I like this post,” she says. “It’s when
I’m bored. It’s in the moment.”

Ramphele to join the DA, or not?
This from mg.co.za:
Agang SA leader Mamphela Ramphele has rejected a joint statement issued by the DA in which it claims Ramphele will accept DA membership on Monday.
Confusion arose on Friday over Agang SA leader Mamphela Ramphele’s joining the Democratic Alliance.
According to a joint statement issued by Ramphele and DA leader Helen Zille on Friday Ramphele would be welcomed into the DA at a press conference in Johannesburg on Monday.
The DA and Agang SA would next week formalise the integration of the two parties following Ramphele’s decision to stand as the official opposition’s presidential candidate in this year’s general elections.
However, following the joint statement being issued, a message from Ramphele was uploaded onto Agang SA’s website.
“You may have by now seen ‘joint’ statements issued by the Democratic Alliance in which it is claimed that I will be accepting DA membership on Monday,” she said.
“This is not true. Nor did I agree to any such statement. It is Agang SA’s position that the technical committee must first complete its work. I am leader of Agang SA, and Agang SA will continue its work to restore the promise of our freedom.”
Ramphele said the commitment she had made to Agang SA members in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and Western Cape, stood.
Photos: California Allows First-Ever State Recognized Human-Animal Marriage
Father McHale who officiated the outdoor wedding told reporters he was extremely happy to be a part of this joyous moment of life. “This is the definition of true love my friends. There is nothing more sacred than the bond between a man and his faithful dog,” McHale said. “Now, since it is recognized as a legally binding marriage in the state of California, Mr. Horner and Mac will have all the same tax benefits and everything else coming to them that a regular married couple would receive. It’s a fantastic day to be alive!”
So how could this have happened?
In the book of California’s State Laws and Regulations there is a little known law that was passed as the state was first forming in 1850. According to article 155, paragraph 10, it clearly states: -
If a man and a man can get married and a woman and a woman can get married, if ever comes that day, then a human and animal will have the exact same rights to marriage in every eye of the law.
God help us if this ever is to happen! In attendance was Horner’s entire family who flew in from Hawaii to witness the event. Mac had her puppies on hand and making a special celebrity appearance was Alex from Stroh’s and Spuds Mckenzie. “I just love my Mac so much, I can’t wait till we can finally get back to the honeymoon sweet in Montana where bestiality is legal. Gosh, get with the times California! We can marry here just fine, but love making is a big no-no,” said Horner. “People keep asking me why I wanted to marry a dog.
I told them I just want the same god given rights that every person in California is allowed to have. Don’t tell me I can’t marry my dog. I don’t tell you that you can’t marry a 500 lb woman with gas issues. That’s your decision. Don’t tread on me. I love my dog and I know he loves me a hundred times more than any gay wedding out there.” With this wedding between a man and a male dog now on the books, one can only ask what is in store next?
A man marrying a toaster? A toaster marrying a dog? A toaster marrying a toaster?
What happened to the sanctity of marriage?
Comedians laughing all the way to the bank
Days
are long gone when the comedy profession was seen as a job meant for
the never do wells. As it is at the moment, while so many people are
cracking their ribs, laughing at their jokes, these men (and women)
laugh all the way to the bank. They count their money in millions and
are getting more and more recognition. Now, they even export their jokes
and profession outside Nigeria hosting major events. To them, what they
do is no longer a joke but serious business. Saturday Beats looks at some of these comedians.
Basketmouth
Ever since Bright ‘Basketmouth’ Okpocha
came into limelight over a decade ago, this comedian has been
trailblazing the industry. Although he thought he would make it as a
musician, God had something else in store for him. In 1991, he
discovered his skills in drumming, which he did for over five years.
During his days as an instrumentalist for his church and a band at a
point, he also discovered his skills in rap music and later diverted
into that path in 1994. In 1995, he, his friends and brother formed a
group called Da Psychopaths. It had seven members but they split before
they could even release an album or a single. Now he is a
celebrated
comedian. He has a highly anticipated show scheduled for the UK. It is
reported that a bank has thrown its weight behind him by sponsoring his
comedy tour with N30m. The show is to hold this month in Manchester,
Birmingham and London respectively.
AY
Whenever Ayo Makun holds his annual AY
Live Show, it is usually a sell out. The comedian is a brand ambassador
to various products. He is also an active media person with several
television shows and a television channel on YouTube which was ranked as
the number one most watched in Africa. Although many would argue that
he is not the funniest of all comedians in the country, what he lacks in
stand-up comedy, he doubles it in his comedy skit. His comic skits are
known to be aimed at current controversies and controversial
personalities and have often times put him at loggerheads with subjects
of the skit. He recently settled a misunderstanding he had with his
friend and actor, Jim Iyke. No matter what, AY is sure making his money.
Gbenga Adeyinka
The brand Gbenga Adeyinka is synonymous
with Star Lager beer. For over six years, the chubby dark-skinned
comedian has been contracted to host events by the premium lager beer.
Be it Star Trek, Star Game Show and the recent Lagos Countdown organised
by the alcoholic beverage, the comedian has every reason to smile,
courtesy of Nigerian Breweries. Also, when it comes to major events, top
weddings and awards, Gbenga does such effortlessly. Gbenga would
certainly relish 2013 as he hosted so many high society weddings. While
the bride and groom beamed with smiles over their union, the comedian
beamed with smiles over his pay cheque.
Julius Agwu
Although he is into music, the comic
merchant is known for his dexterity when it comes to putting smiles on
peoples’ faces. Grateful for his life, De Genius as he is often referred
to, had to fend for himself by hawking pap at the age of six. But his
humble beginning didn’t deter him from turning out to be a mega star
today. His franchise, Crack Ya Ribs, has been a success over the years
and has toured various states in the country. The show is not only known
in the country, he has successfully hosted the show in London. The last
edition was well attended by Nigerian celebrities and top politicians.
He was spotted at the recently concluded Grammy Award ceremony.
Helen Paul
Helen Paul is not just a comedienne but
also an On Air Personality. Currently, she leads the pack of Nigerian
comediennes. She has a dual personality on stage and this works to her
advantage as she easily switches from Helen Paul to her alter ego,
Tataafo. The fair-complexioned comedienne is also a top choice when it
comes to government events. Just last year, she hosted an event that was
attended by the First Lady of the country and succeeded in making the
mother of the nation laugh. While the Dame was laughing, Helen Paul knew
after the show, it would be her turn to smile as she counted her money.
Seyi Law
Probably the youngest on the list in the
profession, the dark-skinned humour peddler has had a good run with
comedy. Prior to his fame which he got on AY’s platform, Seyi Law was
relatively unknown. At a point in his life, he had to hawk sachet water
and recharge cards at parks to earn a living. Today, all is history as
he has been able to build a multi-million naira mansion at Ikorodu
through comedy. He also recently launched an event centre and lounge
also in Ikorodu. With this, he hopes his laughter would be louder to the
bank this year.
[PICS] Car Rental company Ridicules Bow Wow after he Claimed A Rented Car was his
Rapper and 106 & Park host Bow Wow, posted this Ferrari on his instagram page. Most of his fans felt the car was his and congratulated him.
But the Ferrari doesn’t belong to him. A few days after he posted this, the car company he rented it from must have been annoyed that he was trying to pass off their car as his because they subtly put him on blast.

Lemme drop this one here:

Before kicking off his performance, the rapper (who’s known for taking his time to give shout outs) revealed that Eva was the first girlfriend he had when he came to Lagos back in 2008.
‘Let me tell you something I’ve never said before in public,‘ Ice Prince announced as he pulled Eva from her seat onto the stage. ‘Eva was the first girlfriend I had when I came to Lagos; that was way back.‘
A surprised looking Eva then grabbed the mic, laughed and said, ‘I don’t know what he’s talking about.‘
